Brian Burgoon elected President of University of Florida Alumni Association.  Brian Burgoon was elected President of the University of Florida Alumni Association.  Brian has served on the UF Alumni Association’s Board of Directors since 2010, and its executive committee since 2014.  He previously served as President-Elect and Vice President.  He also serves on the UF Foundation Board of Directors.


Brian Burgoon re-elected to Florida Bar Executive Committee; named Technology Committee Chair and Disciplinary Review Committee Chair-ElectThe Florida Bar Board of Governors re-elected Brian Burgoon as one of its three representatives to the Florida Bar Executive Committee.  This will be his sixth term on the Executive Committee, which acts on behalf of the Florida Bar in between meetings of the Board of Governors.  In addition, he was named Chair of the Technology Committee and Chair-Elect (Vice Chair) of the Disciplinary Review Committee.


Brian Burgoon named to "Top 100" Georgia Super Lawyers for fourth consecutive yearBrian Burgoon was recognized in the 2018 "Top 100" Georgia Super Lawyers list by Atlanta Magazine.  He was previously recognized in the “Top 100” Georgia Super Lawyers list in 2015, 2016, and 2017 and has been named a Georgia Super Lawyer for the fifth consecutive year.  


Brian Burgoon named to Georgia Trend "Legal Elite" for eighth consecutive year.  Brian Burgoon was named to the 2017 “Legal Elite” by Georgia Trend magazine in both Business Law and Trial for the eighth consecutive year.  He was previously named to the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 “Legal Elite” lists in Business Law and Trial, and profiled in 2015 as a "Legal Elite" top vote receiver in Business Law.


Brian Burgoon re-elected to Florida Bar Board of Governors.  Brian Burgoon was re-elected to the Florida Bar Board of Governors, and will continue to represent the more than 15,000 out-of-state members on the Bar’s governing board.  The Board sets policy for the over 106,000-member regulatory bar organization, implements rules and regulations for lawyers, and oversees a $43.6 million budget, lawyer ethics and discipline. 

Brian Burgoon elected to Florida Bar Executive Committee.  The Florida Bar Board of Governors elected Brian Burgoon as one of its three representatives to the 2017-18 Florida Bar Executive Committee.  Brian previously served four years on the Executive Committee, which acts on behalf of the Florida Bar in between meetings of the Board of Governors.


​​​​Brian Burgoon named to "Top 100" Georgia Super Lawyers for third consecutive year.  Brian Burgoon was recognized in the 2017 "Top 100" Georgia Super Lawyers list by Atlanta Magazine.  He was previously recognized in the “Top 100” Georgia Super Lawyers list in 2015 and 2016, and has been named a Georgia Super Lawyer for the fourth consecutive year.  

Brian Burgoon elected President-Elect of University of Florida's national alumni association.  Brian Burgoon was elected President-Elect of the University of Florida Alumni Association.  He previously served as Vice President, and has served on the UF Alumni Association’s Board of Directors since 2010. 


​​Brian Burgoon elected to UF College of Law Board of Trustees. Brian Burgoon was elected to the University of Florida College of Law Board of Trustees, the law school’s primary support and advisory board.


Brian Burgoon appointed chair of subcommittee reviewing Florida Lawyers Assistance program.  Brian Burgoon has been appointed chair of a Florida Bar Board of Governors subcommittee which will review and evaluation the Florida Lawyers Assistance program.


Burgoon tapped for committee to oversee development of free trust accounting solution for Florida attorneys.   Brian Burgoon was appointed by Florida Bar President Bill Schifino to serve on a special committee tasked with overseeing the development of a free trust accounting solution for Florida attorneys.  Once developed, the use of the program will be voluntary, and is intended to reduce the number of disciplinary complaints for incidents of technical noncompliance with the Bar’s trust accounting rules.  The Board of Governors approved the pilot program's launch in May 2018.

Brian Burgoon named to 2015 Legal Elite by Georgia Trend, Profiled as Top Vote Receiver in Business Law.  Brian Burgoon was named to the 2015 “Legal Elite” by Georgia Trend magazine in the areas of Business Law and Trial for the sixth consecutive year, and was profiled as a "Legal Elite" top vote receiver in Business Law in 2015. 


Brian Burgoon re-elected to Florida Bar Board of Governors.  Brian Burgoon was re-elected to his ninth consecutive two-year term to represent the more than 15,000 out-of-state members on the Florida Bar Board of Governors.  The Board sets policy for the over 105,000 member regulatory bar organization, implements rules and regulations for lawyers, and oversees lawyer ethics and discipline. 

Brian Burgoon elected President of University of Florida College of Law Alumni Council.  Brian Burgoon was elected 2014-15 president of the University of Florida College of Law Alumni Council.  

Brian Burgoon receives Florida Bar's Tony Boggs Excellence in Discipline Award.  Brian Burgoon was the 2014 recipient of the Florida Bar’s Tony Boggs Excellence in Discipline Award.  Brian was chosen by Florida Bar President Eugene Pettis in recognition of his dedication, integrity, intellectual excellence, and extraordinary work in and on behalf of the lawyer discipline efforts of The Florida Bar.

Brian Burgoon selected as inaugural member of Leadership Council for UF's Florida Opportunity Scholars Program.  Brian Burgoon was selected as an inaugural member of the Leadership Council for the University of Florida’s Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program.  The Leadership Council is responsible for raising awareness and securing increased private support for the FOS Program that provides full financial assistance to underprivileged first generation college students attending the University of Florida.

Brian Burgoon elected to Florida Bar Executive Committee for 2014-15.  Brian Burgoon was elected by the Florida Bar Board of Governors as one of its three representatives to the Florida Bar Executive Committee.  Brian has served on the Executive Committee since 2011.

Brian Burgoon named Fla. Bar Disciplinary Review Committee Chair and Executive Committee member.  Brian Burgoon was appointed by Florida Bar President Eugene Pettis to serve as the 2013-14 Chair of the Florida Bar Disciplinary Review Committee, which oversees the prosecution of disciplinary violations committed by Florida lawyers.  He also will serve on the Florida Bar Executive Committee.

Brian Burgoon named to “Top 40 Under 40” by National Trial Lawyers Association.   In 2012, Brian Burgoon was one of 40 attorneys in Georgia to be recognized in the “Top 40 Under 40” by the National Trial Lawyers Association.   

Brian Burgoon named a Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Star by Atlanta Magazine.   Brian Burgoon was named a Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Star by Atlanta Magazine in 2012 for the fourth consecutive year.  He was previously selected for the 2009, 2010 and 2011 Super Lawyer Rising Star lists.

Brian Burgoon receives AV Preeminent® rating by Martindale-Hubbell.   Brian Burgoon has been rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell, the peer review rating for the highest level of professional excellence offered by the prestigious lawyer rating organization.

Brian Burgoon appointed by bar president to 2012-13 Florida Bar Executive Committee.   Florida Bar President Gwynne Young selected Brian Burgoon as one of her two presidential appointments to serve on the Florida Bar Executive Committee for the 2012-13 bar year.

Brian Burgoon appointed to statewide commission to review the Florida lawyer discipline system.   Brian Burgoon was named by Florida Bar President Scott Hawkins to a special statewide commission to review the Florida Bar’s disciplinary system.  The commission, comprised of 33 judges, attorneys and business leaders, was tasked with studying and making recommendations regarding the Bar’s regulation of lawyer conduct, with an eye on the rapidly growing number of Bar members, and in view of recent high-profile matters involving broad-scale misconduct.

Brian Burgoon named Fla. Bar Disciplinary Review Committee Co-Chair and Executive Committee member.  Brian Burgoon was appointed 2011-12 Co-Chair of the Florida Bar Disciplinary Review Committee, and named to the Florida Bar Executive Committee, by Florida Bar President Scott Hawkins.

Brian Burgoon receives 2009 Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from University of Florida.   Brian Burgoon received the 2009 Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from the University of Florida.  The award was established by the university to recognize Gators under 40 who have distinguished themselves in business, community, and service.

Brian Burgoon selected to co-chair Florida Bar Disciplinary Review Committee for 2008-09.   Florida Bar President Jay White appointed Brian Burgoon to serve as 2008-09 Co-Chair of the Florida Bar Disciplinary Review Committee.

Brian Burgoon appointed Chair of Florida Bar Rules Committee.   Brian Burgoon was appointed to serve as 2006-07 Chair of the Florida Bar Rules Committee by Florida Bar President Hank Coxe.  The Rules Committee reviews all amendments to the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar prior to Florida Supreme Court approval. 

Brian Burgoon among out-of-state bar leaders to help replenish storm ravished libraries.   Brian Burgoon was one of the out-of-state Florida Bar leaders to help implement a hurricane relief book drive to replenish children’s books destroyed by Hurricane Charley.  Over 9,000 books were collected and donated to the Charlotte County School District in the drive.
